HRD Corp Claimable Training: Why It Matters, and How to Use Your Levy on Salesforce and AI Skills

Your company already pays the HRD Corp levy. Here is how it works, why unused levy can be forfeited, and how to turn it into Salesforce, Agentforce, Claude and Slackbot skills your teams will actually use.

The short version

If your company has 10 or more Malaysian employees, you already pay a training levy to HRD Corp every month. That money is set aside for one thing: training your people. Used well, it pays for the skills your business needs next. Left unused, part of it can be forfeited.

In 2026, the skills most companies need next are digital: using the CRM properly, and using AI safely and well. This guide explains how HRD Corp works, why certification matters, and how to put your levy to work on Salesforce and AI training.

What HRD Corp is, and why people still say HRDF

HRD Corp, the Human Resource Development Corporation, runs Malaysia's training levy scheme under the Ministry of Human Resources. Many people still call it HRDF, its old name. Same scheme, new name.

Employers with 10 or more Malaysian employees must register and pay a levy of 1% of each employee's basic pay and fixed allowances every month. Employers with 5 to 9 employees can join voluntarily at 0.5%. In return, employers can claim approved training costs from their levy balance.

Why it matters: use it or lose it

The levy is not a tax that disappears. It builds up as a balance in your account, ready to fund training. But it does not wait forever. If a company makes no training claim for two years, any balance above RM 10,000 can be forfeited.

For a mid-sized company, that adds up quickly.

Illustrative example. The levy is calculated on basic pay plus fixed allowances; overtime, bonuses and commissions are excluded. If no training is claimed in two years, any balance above RM 10,000 can be forfeited. Check your balance in HRD Corp's e-TRiS portal.

Why certification matters

Only registered courses qualify
HRD Corp funds courses that are registered with it, run by registered training providers. A good course from an unregistered provider will not be approved.
Accredited trainers
Trainers delivering HRD Corp funded courses must hold HRD Corp accreditation, which sets a baseline for how training is designed and delivered.
Less admin for you
A registered provider knows the process, prepares the documents HRD Corp needs, and claims the course fee directly, so your HR team is not left chasing paperwork.
Training that sticks
The point is not the certificate. It is people who use the tools better on Monday morning. Look for providers who train on your own systems and data.

How a claim works

The most common mistake is starting training before approval. The grant must be applied for and approved in HRD Corp's e-TRiS portal before the course begins.
